Ruby Ortiz, AMFT  #133539

Clinically, Ruby has experience working with teens and tweens. She leans towards a Strength-Based approach by exploring the Client’s own strengths and gently supporting them as they navigate through the struggles they are facing. In addition, Ruby focuses on each client’s own individual needs while using some techniques from Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and Positive Psychology. Furthermore, Ruby uses Play, Art, and mindfulness techniques to guide Clients through their emotions, processing and healing experience.

Ruby is bilingual in English and Spanish. She received a Master’s of Science in Clinical Psychology from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California. Previously, Ruby has worked with teens, tweens, and young adults who have experienced Immigration, Trauma, Complex Trauma, Depression, Anxiety. Ruby has also worked with Women who identify as Domestic violence survivors, and has provided Applied Behavior Analysis to children and young adults who live with learning disabilities. 

Ruby is a published author of a children’s book that is focused on finding and exploring the aspect of having, embracing, different types of homes. To Ruby, home is a journey, it is where we come from, where we are headed, have been, and planting new roots. Home is part of our identity, it’s what shapes who we become, it’s our body, our essence, it is the feeling we get when we are with someone we love.

When Ruby is not in the office she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, watching tv, and eating Hot Cheetos,  Ruby also enjoys painting and sketching on her down time.

Ruby is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist # 133539 and is also an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor # 11846. Ruby is supervised by Lyndsey Nelson, MFT # 113189.
